Architect, PhD in Interior Architecture, Francesco is an associate professor in industrial design at the Design department – Politecnico di Milano. He carries out research, teaching and consulting in the field of hospitality and he is the author of many publications and researches. Involved into the interior and the furnishing product design, the relationship with the areas related to management, the corporate image and services in a complex system like the hotel building. Since 2012 he is scientific director of the Master in Interior Design – Polidesign. He contributed in many conferences and events discussing the trends and new design scenarios dedicated to hospitality.

Project Manager of HOW Conference, Architect PhD
Elena Elgani is an architect, PhD in Interior Architecture and Exhibition Design at Politecnico di Milano with the thesis “Wandering Hospitality. Temporary Interiors for Urban Events” (2016). She’s currently developing her research and professional practice in the field of interior architecture and design focusing on the system of contemporary hospitality (hotel, hostels, urban camping and new format for hospitality), trends forecasting, temporary architecture and exhibitions. Since 2010 she collaborates as assistant lecturer in interior architecture and interior design at Politecnico di Milano, being involved in several didactic activities: research projects, lectures, mentoring for thesis, workshops. She is tutor for the Executive Master in Design Management for Innovative Environments led by POLI.design – Milano and Tongji University – Shanghai. Since 2016 she has worked as adjunct professor at School of Design, Politecnico di Milano.

She is a Full Professor of Industrial Design, publicist, teacher of Interior Design at the Design School of Politecnico di Milano and at the Polo Universitario di La Spezia. Her work features in design, techniques and environment. She is part of the Doctoral School of Design and she has been President of the inter-university degree program in Naval and Nautical Design since its inception in 2011 (Politecnico di Milano and Università degli Studi di Genova). Silvia is Co-Director of the Master in Yacht Design at Politecnico di Milano.

Full Industrial Design Professor at the Design Faculty of Politecnico di Milano. He worked consistently on the role of industrial design within the industry referring to made in Italy and for industrial districts. Throughout his researches he delved into the topic of design driven innovation and worked on design knowledge management. He was responsible for SDI – Sistema Design Italia (Italian Design System) – national network of agencies for industrial design researTEAM FARB ch, to which ten other Italian universities are associated. He is currently President of POLI.design and past member of the Administration Council of Fondazione Politecnico. On behalf of Politecnico di Milano he is following many projects, among which Design Focus, Observatory of the Design System in Lombardy and the project Design Directory Italia. He is in charge of many projects for transferring design innovation in local, national and international contests, educational projects and for the internationalisation of enterprises, especially in the area of BRIC countries.

Luca Guerrini is associate professor at the Politecnico di Milano, where he has been working since 1993. Trained as an urban designer, he has carried out applied research and projects in the field of transportation and environmental design, design for public spaces, interior design and design for cultural heritage. His studies are focused on the concept and the perception of space in the relation between Design and the Arts. He teaches Interior design and Arts and Languages of the Present at the School of Design. He is currently Dean of the PhD programme in Design, and faculty member of this programme since 2002. He is in charge of the double degree programme in interior design between Politecnico di Milano and Tsinghua University Beijing. He gave lectures in Master and PhD Courses, both in Italy and abroad. Curator of exhibitions of design and architecture, he has been a consultant for the National Museum of Architecture in Ferrara, Italy, from 2000 to 2006. He took part in national and international competitions of architecture.

Maresa Bertolo is Assistant Professor at Dipartimento di Design, Politecnico di Milano, member of ImagisLab group and co-founder of Play Res association. She teaches Computer Graphics and Game Design (School of Design, Politecnico di Milano), dealing with animation, stereoscopy, interactive VE, interactive systems and games, focusing on theoretical and practical aspects of the design process, leading students to real games prototypes. Her research focuses on Game Studies, with a particular interest on ludic activity as vehicle for communication, learning and wellbeing. She supervises PhD and Msc thesis on Game Studies and Game Design, working with students on many different declinations of the relationship between play and humans, looking for games able to improve the quality of life for different categories of people on a variety of topics, such as oldage, social rules, communication, ethnical diversities, multiculturality, environmental sustainability. She contributes to international research through papers, intervention in books, participation at conferences, and is Scientific Director of the Tavola Esagonale conference.
Maria Rosanna Fossati

Maria Rosanna Fossati is an interior designer and works on Universal Design issues with a special focus on the accessibility of Hospitality sector. PhD in Design at Politecnico di Milano, actually she works at Università di Firenze at Design for Sustainability Lab. Her PhD research focused on approaches and tools to guarantee the experience’s accessibility for all. She is a consultant for private and public clients.
